About the Artwork

Joshua Tang Jin Lin has autism and he uses art as a means to unleash his creativity. My multi-coloured bull is an awesome explosion of harmonious colours whereby the artist has gone to great lengths to achieve the desired effect. He used rollers, brushes, packaging materials such as bubble wrap, cling film and foam mesh fruit sleeves to obtain the perfect finished quality for his Büffel. Although the palette used to paint the bull's hide contains the same range of colours, with the yellow, white, purple, blue and green, it is the addition of orange that energises one side of the bull with warmth. The viewer can observe the transition as the bull rotates, to see that the reverse side displays a cooler aspect, revealing two sides of the character of a single animal. The figurine was then finished off with two layers of varnish to protect it.
