About the Artwork

Eminent Singaporean fashion designer Jo Soh has labeled her creation The Executive Brown Bull. Imaginatively conceived in line with Soh's own high-flying career, she has dressed her smart Büffel in the obligatory 1980's pin stripe City attire. Describing her acrylic painted Büffel as "the brown bull dressed in his Shenton Way best", Soh prescribes a light-hearted and humourous expression with her bull, marrying fashion, art and a unique sense of style.

About the Artist

After graduating with 1st class Honours in Fashion Design with Marketing from the renowned Central St. Martins in London, Jo Soh honed her skills working with designers around the globe. She sewed haute couture garments for Tristan Webber in London, and had assignments in Milan, New York and Singapore. She has worked as a freelance stylist and illustrator, and taught in fashion design colleges in Singapore. Soh especially loved her one-time stint as a pre-school art teacher.

As the proud owner of fashion design label hansel, Soh's clothing range made its impressive debut at the Mercedes Australian Fashion Week in October 2003. It has been a huge success ever since both locally and overseas, with boutiques in Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia and the USA stocking her clothes and her creations receiving rave reviews from industry critics, garnering many accolades and followers. Her exceptional designs have consistently won several awards, including I-S Readers' Choice Awards Singapore for 3 years running in 2011, 2012 and 2013: Best Fashion Brand; Perspective magazine Hong Kong "40 under 40" 2011 Awards: Fashion category; ELLE Awards 2009 Singapore: Singaporean Designer of the Year. Due to the label's great success, hello hansel, a diffusion line by hansel, made its debut in February 2011.

A well-recognized name in the industry, Soh also has a design consultancy where she has been involved in designing uniforms for staff members of some of Singapore's biggest businesses such as DBS Bank, ION and JEMS shopping mall. Other projects Soh has worked on are: a collaboration with Singaporean celebrity hairstylist and founder of The Monsoon Group, Addy Lee, to design a capsule range under the label, "hansel for Addy Lee"; Soh has worked as an official for Forbes Travel Guide Tastemaker, November 2013; she has been a guest on MediaCorp Toggle TV talk show, "LOL" in March 2013; she has shared her views with Singaporean Prime Minister Lee and Members of Parliament in Channel News Asia's forum on 14 September 2012.
