About the Artwork

As one admires Ng Swee Keat's painting oeuvre, it becomes evident that he has varied and developed his style and subject-matter as he continues to grow and mature, which continues to make him an interesting painter to appreciate. Beautiful Patterns of Life is the title of Ng's Büffel, where one side of it displays an excerpt from his larger canvas entitled My Blanket, which is a multi-hued rendering of a resplendent patchwork quilt the artist reminisces once belonging to his grandmother - a painting filled with nostalgic memories of love and warmth. In stark contrast Ng has depicted a skin of marbling effect for the other side of the Büffel figurine, which represents the strong stone-like quality of the animal.
