About the Artwork

Coming from the tropical lush region of Borneo, Adrian Ho is constantly exposed to the beauty and magnificence of the surrounding rainforest. As a protagonist in the mission to protect natural habitats and to fight against deforestation, he spreads the word through his paintings, showing the viewer the visual splendor of the Sabah landscape. "Landscape is my passion and the main subject-matter. I search for purity of nature in my art and the Malaysian landscape is a rich creative source of inspiration. It also inspires me to continuously expand my technical know-how, to express it better", claims Ho, who's Büffel Light Show in the Rainforest is a prime example of his style of painting. "The connection between me and the rainforest is being reinforced in my art," asserts Ho who has lived in Sabah for 47 years. The painting on his Büffel is taken from a series of oil paintings where he portrays the poetic way light travels across the different levels of the ecosystem. "My paintings allow viewers to join me in a series of revelations about the reality of the rainforest and engage in complex and multi-layer issues pertaining to the rainforest and biosphere in a contemporary context. Viewers will expect some surprises in getting to know my rainforest and also the opportunity to share my concerns on some worrying current trends affecting it".
